I was ousted from the group for non participation
during a 6 month break I took last May after the birth
of my son, Cristian Tenamaztli. Needless to say, I am
happy to be back and thankful that the welcome mat was
still laid out.

I started my genealogy quest as part of a class
assignment while in high school many, many years ago.
I never imagined how important the project would
become or that I would still be this involved 20 years
later.

My family is from a rancho called Las Animas (also
known as Daniel Camarena) which is part of el
municipio de Nochistlan, Zacatecas. My family
surnames are Rodriguez, Jimenez, Romo, Oropeza,
Ramirez, Ortega, Melendrez, Contreras, Martinez, Don
Lucas, Nunon and Borrayo. At this point I would say
that 95% of my research is focused in Nochistlan.

I’m looking forward to learning and sharing ideas with
all of you.

Best of luck!

Lulu

P.S. I’m from Northern California, East Bay to be
exact, if anyone is interested in hooking up at a FHC
with me.

Mari,
Have you been to Las Animas? Are your parents from
there or some of your ancestors? I am sure that
almost everyone who comes from Las Animas is related
one way or another. Looking forward to making a
possible connection. Let me know when you are in the
area.

LOURDES,

I SEE WHERE IN YOUR INTEREST NAMES THERE IS “CONTRERAS”.

I AM LOOKING FOR DELGADOS IN SAN MATIAS, PINOS, ZACATECAS.
THERE IS A MARIA MATHIANA CONTRERAS RODRIGUEZ, BORN IN 1709,
PRESUMABLY IN THAT PLACE, BUT IT COULD BE ANOTHER TOWN OR VILLAGE NEARBY. HER MARRIAGE WAS TO JUAN MANUEL DELGADO IN 1728.

ANYTHING SOUND FAMILIAR?

THANKS.

Lourdes,
the connection we have in just the immediate thought is Rodriguez, to be exact Alejandro Rodriguez son of Jose Augustan Antonio Rodriguez.
Alejandro was the fourth child born to Jose and Maria Trinidad Vincent de Leon

he was born June 5 1791 in San Luis Obispo
He married my ggg-grandmother in 1815 @ msn Santa Clara.

I so hope that my trip will be in March but if not then it will be April and maybe we could hook up. I will go through more of my notes and get back to you on more info about the rancho and such.
The computer I use and files are not in the same area so I must prepare when I come to use the computer. mari
