Maria:

I am not sure which version of the LDS database you are using, but if you are using the pilot, a name comes up even if the name appears as an ancillary person (parent or grandparent) of the record in which it appears.

What information do you have on Deciderio Tinajero? If you don’t have a baptism or marriage record for him, how do you know he was from San Felipe? You will have to find one of those documents that pertains specifically to him (as opposed to his name appearing as an ancillary person) in order to find his birthdate, birthplace and names of his parents.

If he was baptizing a son in 1844, he was likely born in in the 1800-1820 timeframe. But he could have been born somewhere other than Guanajuato. It might make sense to try to find his marriage record first if you know his child’s mother’s name and one assumes they were married.

Well Actually I believe Deciderio is Andres Tinajero’s brother and I am looking for Andres parents so I hoped that by looking for Deciddrio….Deciderio might show up with his parents names. The info I have for Andres Tinajero who is actaully the person I am looking for is the following.

He was married to Maximiana Huerta their kids were:

Maria Melquiades Tinajero Huerta —12/17/1842 born in San Felipe Gto.
Ma Leonarda Tinajero Huerta———11/14/1847 born in San Isidro de Ocampo (Close to San Felipe)
Jos Evaristo Tinajero Huerta——–11/07/1844 born in San Felipe
Jose Feliz Tinajero Huerta———-05/29/1850 born in San Isidro
Maria Eufemia Tinajero Huerta——-03/28/1841 bonr in San Isidro
Jose Remigo Tinajero Huerta———10/11/1846 born in San Isidro

There is a marriage record of Andres Tinajero but it says that he married Maximiana Lopez in San Felipe so not sure if these would be them. I don’t’ think it’s them because all the kids have Huerta as a last name. The marriage occured on 1840 in San Felipe Gto. I’m trying to find the parents of Andres Tinajero and Maximiana Huerta.

Follow maximianas line to see if she had an ancestor with the huerta last name or if she had a previous marriage before you rule her out.

When I enter Huerta as a last name…I get so many but her name never comes up even if I do Huerta all over Mexico not just Guanajuato. I looked through 20 pages with Huerta as a last name…shouldn’t she come up eventually?

for example I find a Antonio Huerta born in 1820 in San Felipe. I pull Antonio as the parent to see if she comes up as a child but nothing. I have tried like 15 different people as parents and nothing. I need help.

Maria:

My hunch is that you found the correct marriage document for Andres Tinajero. The fact that his wife’s last name changed between her marriage and her children’s baptisms could have many different explanations, especially in that time (early 1800s).

Because surnames prior to the Bourbon reforms of the early 1800s were not systematic in the Spanish speaking world, many people would switch between maternal and paternal names (or sometimes even a granparent’s name, especially women). Also, it was just after the War of Independence so there was lots of displacement, new priests, people changing names for political reasons (for example lots of Spanish families that used composed names simplified them so as de-Spanishify them). Those names, Tinajero and Maximiana are to rare for the record (which coincides with time and place) not to be the correct one.

You should definitely order the film for that marriage and read the marriage document. The fact that no other Tinajeros appear in that batch or the batch before it getting married in San Felipe makes me think that the Tinajeros are not from that town… he must have gone there to marry his wife Maximiana. His marriage record would say where he was from.

One last question. I looked at the marriage record on LDS and the film number is 644414 but that number is not listed on the San Felipe Church records. Can you verify I did choose the correct film number before I order it.

I found him married to Cecilia Alonso and had two kids One in San Felipe Gto. (Jose Marciano Tinajero Alonso) and (Jose Vidal Tinajero Alonso) born in San Isidro de Ocampo.

Andres Tinajero’s kids were born some in San Felipe and some in San Isidro de Ocampo which both are really close to Ocampo Gto and that is where my 1900 family started in Ocampo so I’m following the line from San Felipe to San Isidro to Ocampo where Ocampo is current in my family.

There is another male that might also be Andres brother but not sure…

Sostenes Tinajero married to Sesaria Gomez and they had to kids in San Isidor de Ocampo.
Jose Demetrio Tinajero Gomez and Eutiquio Tinajero Gomez.

On Deciderio and Sostenes I’m just guessing that they are Andres brothers I could be wrong but like I said….I’m following the line and date seem to consider.
