My wife’s grandfather was:

1. ANTONIO ESCOBEDO (Jose Antonio Escovedo)was born 6/13/1885 (3) in Chalchihuites, Zacatecas, Mexico and Baptized in San Pedro, Chalchihuites, Zacatecas, Mexico (27 June 1887). He married ALTAGRACIA BRIONES probably around 1905-1910 in (?). ALTAGRACIA BRIONES was born 1/6/1885 in Saltillo, Coahilua, Mexico

Children of ANTONIO ESCOBEDO and ALTAGRACIA BRIONES are:
2. i. FRANCISCO ESCOBEDO, born 1/29/1912, Musquez, Coahilua, Mexico.
3. ii. PEDRO B ESCOBEDO, born 5/13/1914, Nixon, Gonzales, Texas, USA. (my wife’s father)
4. iii. RAFAELA ESCODEBO, born 6/21/1916, San Antonio, Texas, USA
5. iv. REMIJIA ESCODEBO (BOSQUEZ), born 5/3/1925, San Antonio, Texas, USA
6. v. RAQUEL ESCODEBO (RODRIGUEZ), born 5/7/1928, San Antonio, Texas, USA
7. vi. ROSA ESCODEBO (PINALES), born (?), San Antonio, Texas, USA

Father of Antonio Escobedo: Claro Escovedo
Mother of Antonio Escobedo: Remigia (Remijia) Rojas

Our trail goes cold with Antonio’s parents Claro & Remigia. We have tried different spellings, etc. and cannot find anything.

Our folder is at http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/garysarah

We are glad to be a part of this group.

This is what I found in FamilySearch for Claro Escovedo (Escobedo) married
to Remigia Rojas with the following children: In reverse order Jose Sotero
Escobedo, ch. 5 May 1889, Chalchihuites, Zacatecas; Antonio Escobedo, b. 27
June 1887, Chalchihuites, Zacatecas (married to Altagracia Briones)
This is the first child to Claro and Remigia Rojas: Je. Florentino
Octaviana de Jesus Escobedo, ch. 22 March 1885, Suchil, Durango. So do you
think that maybe they started off in Durango before going on to Zacatecas?
I would look for a marriage or matrimonial information in Durango and start
in 1884 and go back just in case they had other children before 1885? I’ll
check a little but I think Bill and Armando may give you some better ideas.

WOW – we just added possibly 3 generations to our family tree.
Armando – how do you search through the handwritten church records? Visually look at each one or has someone made an index?
Thanks again,

You should easily be able to find at least a 4th generation by looking up
the baptisms. There isn’t an index for Huejuquilla that I know of. As far
as searching for the digital copy of the baptism, I make a guess where the
record would be in the volume then jump back and forth until I find the
record I am looking for. Sometimes I can find a record in about six
attempts or 10 to 15 minutes depending the quality of the image and the
handwriting.
