Gloria I laughed a lot when I saw your message, that’s one of the situations of the extreme carelessness of the priests while writing the records. Sometimes I’ve struggled a lot because of the mistakes in the grandparent’s names and surnames that I get confused and angry because it takes to me a lot of time to follow the right path.
Well I think there’s a lot of opinions in here, I do think that the one that has a more credible reason is Mrs. Luz Montejano Hilton, but there’s always the door open for many kind of probabilities.

I actually said some of the same things Luz Montejano said.

Me: “Dudo mucho que tengan que ver con gente de Islas Canarias. Para
probarlo simplemente hay que buscar a los registros de los padres, abuelos
y bisabuelos. Seguramente los encontrarás en México” and I also said “Como
pueden ver esa familia aunque esta descrita como español africano no hay
nada en su árbol genealógico que los describe como negros, africanos o
moros.”

Luz: “Si ustedes siguen investigando, veran que sus lineas en muchos de los
casos, siguen en Mexico y a veces sin tener nada que ver con africanos”

Me: “Eso de español africano solo ha servido de causar confusión y no ayuda
a nada en cuestión de genealogía”

Luz: “ya como españoles ciudadanos o españoles americanos,o solo
ciudadanos, en fin, fue una epoca muy confusa la de 1821″

Therefore you can see what I said and Luz said is basically the same and we
agree on these points. As shown by Luz these records were caused by a
misundertanding of the priests as how they were supposed to describe the
families because they were ordered to stop using the caste system due to
the Independence of Mexico. There is not an open door to other probabiities.
