Abram,

It’s possible that you are not using the slide bar on the right side of the page…slide it downward to view all the listings…

Thank you Adrian and Armando. I followed your directions.. I lost my lead on page 90 with the date discussed, and I assumed there were lost pages out of order and when I first read your instruction I assumed I was lead to the general film.

You are great.

Hope I can return the Favor.

It seems that retoños may have missed this son or transferred the name in tomo 5 page 55 Jose Santiago born Dec 13, 1758 married to Juana Gertrudis Perez Gallo on January 30, 1782; As we just confirmed the name was Jose Juachin married to Juana Gertrudis Perez Gallo the same day .

Bill,

The following girl seems to be the Juana DIAS DE SANDI you are searching for. She would have been only three months old at her mother Juana LOMELIN’s death, (perhaps too young to be included in any documents) and 15 years old at the time of her own marriage to Joseph Alexandro ACOSTA.

From Film #299530, Mex CCRec Ags Ags Sag (inc Hac. Cieneguilla) Bau 1719-1733, Image 10.

Juana, española, baptized 6 Apr 1720, Ags,
hija lexitima de Ju. DIAS DE SANDI y Doña Juana LOMELIN y MENDOZA.
Padrino: el capitan Don Andres TELLO De LOMAS.

I don’t like the way it was before or the way it is now. It could have been
done without scroll bars, vertical or horizontal. However, neither format
had anything with you not being able to find the Jalisco images.

As far as the baptismal record you are looking for it is in film number
634015. It will definitely be in that film, without a doubt. You will have
to jump around to find it.

Abram,

We need to learn to use what’s available. In my opinion just having it available on line is wonderful.

Before December of 2010 in order to look at films, you had to go to your local family history center and order your film. You paid a fee for each roll of film and then you waited 5-6 weeks for your film to come to your local family history center from Salt Lake. You would go to your local FHC and view the film on microfilm readers. When you found a record you wanted, you had to pay a fee for every copy. I remember paying up to 25 cents per photocopy. Depending on your local FHC they were open 2 to 3 days a week and if the hours didn’t work for you, tough. The film could only be viewed at the one local FHC, you couldn’t take it to a different one that had better research hours and there were times when you’d order some film and it sat for the 3-4 weeks alloted time and pouf, that time passed and maybe you’d had time to view it once or twice. If you wanted it to remain longer at your FHC, you had to pay another fee to extend it for another 4 weeks.

So you see it’s available on-line, 24/7, you just have to be patient, do the work, seek all options and be smart about searching the archives.

Alicia

Hi Gloria,

Thank you very much for answering my question. Juana de Lomelin y Hurtado
de Mendoza was ill when her daughter was born and probably died of
post-partum complications three months after giving birth to her daughter.
The baptismal record also indicates that Juana was “hija lexitima de Juan
Díaz de Sandi y de Da Juana de Lomelin y Mendoza difunta”. The word difunta
was later scratched out by the priest. Here is the sequence of events:

06 Apr 1720 – Juana Díaz de Sandi is baptized in Aguascalientes.

28 Jun 1720 – Her mother Juana de Lomelin y Hurtado de Mendoza, gravely
ill in bed after giving birth to her daughter, authorized her husband Juan
Díaz de Sandi to file her final will and testament on her behalf. No
mention of her newborn is made in her deposition, made in presence of the
scribe and witnesses.

05 Jul 1720 – Juana de Lomelín y Hurtado de Mendoza dies and is buried in
Aguascalientes.

18 Oct 1720 – Juan Díaz de Sandi files his wife’s testament on her behalf.
No mention of their daughter Juana, who was probably not expected to live.

Thank again for your help, Gloria.

All the best,

BILL FIGUEROA
