FAMILY SEARCH LABS UPDATE
Hi Daniel 🙂
I just read your Feb 13th 2010 post and am so happy to hear that info about Durango! I just recently found out that my grandmother Antonia Delgado born in 1910 in Durango, Mexico. I would love to find out more about her background since she had a sad life that ended shortly at 23 yrs old!
I recently went on a trip to California and went to the Norwalk Hall of records/Civil Registar and looked up her death certificate. The odd thing is that it says she was buried at Calvary Cemetary, in Los Angeles, yet when I went there, they had no record of her being buried there!
I was also able to find out that her mother’s name was Victoriana Guimenez. Her father’s name was unknown. Undoubtedly he was a Delgado : )
I was just informed that Family Search labs will be uploaded to a new version 2and will publish MANY records next week, hopefully some are Mexican records.Im still waiting on Jalisco and Zacatecas. The site wil also have a different look onsome things.

Hi Alexis
Here is a link the the Los Angeles Archdiocese with instructions on how to locate your grandmothers grave. http://archdiocese.la/prayer/cemeteries/info/records.html
My great grandmother is buried there and when I went in person, they were unable to locate her grave. In their defense, I did not have an appointment, they had other people waiting to see them, I only had a death year and it was 1929 which is not in their computer database, so it had to be looked up the old fashioned way. I later wrote them a letter and they were able to give me the location of her grave.
Most helpful was calling the mortuary listed on her death certificate. They gave me the name of the family parish and between the two of them I got more information than I could have hoped for. Hope this helps.
P.S. I do not live in Los Angeles but I am originally from there and visit frequently. If you have the exact location of a grave in Calvary or Rose Hills I can take a picture for you. I may take 1-3 months but I will gladly do this. This is extended to any nuestros member.

Hello-
I am having a similar challenge. Accept, in addition, cannot locate a
death record for my great grandmother Francisca Garcia Torres. The family
story is that she gave birth to my grandfather, Francisco (who also does
not have a birth certificate) in Los Angeles. She did not recover fully
from labor and four months later she died. No records but I do have death
photos. I have contacted Los Angeles County and have had no luck. I have
the likely address she resided at when she passed away- but this is it. I
have been told she was placed in an unmarked grave in L.A. somewhere.
Any suggestions?

Esperanza-I’m just kind of thinking out loud. I’m wondering if she was
Roman Catholic and whether the Church keeps records of Last Rites. Since
you have a possible address, maybe you can call the LA Archidiocese and find
out what parish she would have lived in at the time. Also, would the public
library be a resource to find out where paupers’ graves would have been
located and registered? Even if they were unmarked, they probably would
have been registered somewhere. Good luck.–Raquel
