The answer to your question below is “most likely yes”. We originally developed the database on the old site to keep track of what films people had on indefinite loan at their local FHC so that other members might be able to ask them to look up something. We eventually decided to start adding batch numbers since these are very useful and now we have linked the batch numbers directly to the familysearch website to make lookups easier.

So basically, if someone has entered a film without a batch number they probably did so because they have the film on indefinite loan and one would expect that if it were indexed they would have entered the batch number along with their names but you never know….

Thank you… I phoned the LDS Temple FHC in Oakland, CA. and asked if they had a reverse listing, batch numbers that were assigned to a given film number… the answer was ‘no.” But they (three different people) all agreed that all the batch numbers for a given film will appear on the actual film. The next I’m in our local FHC, I’ll check to see if that’s a factual statement.

Thank you… I phoned the LDS Temple FHC in Oakland, CA. and asked if they had a reverse listing, batch numbers that were assigned to a given film number… the answer was ‘no.” But they (three different people) all agreed that all the batch numbers for a given film will appear on the actual film. The next I’m in our local FHC, I’ll check to see if that’s a factual statement.

wonder if I’ve been missing something on those pages that show the
volume Number. . .I’ve uploaded an example at:

I didn’t see anything that looked like a reference to a batch number on the example that you posted. It’s possible that batch numbers appear through the film, but I’m not sure. I’ll be going to our local FHC on Tuesday to order film, and I’ll ask them to run a film to see if through the film batch numbers are noted. It’s resonable to think that more than one batch number would be used for a given film, with all the records found on one film. I maybe wrong.

Not to worry about batch #’s, I inserted them when I attached my name to yours on the films we both have on permanent hold when I added additional film numbers. The films for Nochistlan without batch numbers are films after 1875 for Baptisms and after 1885 for marriages. I added them to the data base even though there is no benefit in terms of calling up the batch number but I use it to look up a film number for a particular town or area without having to go to family search.org and I kind of assumed that other people would do the same.
