Films/ Villanueva, Zacatecas

Baptism (Malpaso) 1861-1869 1094628 C605391
Baptisms (Malpaso) 1764-1846 1092946 C601071

Baptisms (Malpaso) 1846-1872 1092947 C601072
Will someone please explain what (Malpaso) means, it’s not listed in my Spanish Dictionary. Are these four films in poor condition and difficult to read?

Malpaso means Bad step or bad passage. I’ve passed through the little
village on my way to and from Jerez. We didn’t stop because, as usual,
we were in a rush. Marge:)

Check out this site – it seems to explain that the area “Malpaso” is a large
valley which encompassed various villages, pueblos, towns, etc

Thank you Marge,
I totally missed it being a reference to an area, I thought that maybe it
had something to do with the condition of the film.

This is a basic map of Zacatecas – one can see where the valley of Malpaso,
where current archeological digs are occurring (La Quemada) is near
Villanueva.

This ancestral line has been one that I have had problems with in the past.
I teasingly told my husband that “these ancestors,” just didn’t want to be
found, but today, I think they’re now ready, so we can move on.
Thank you for your help.

In double checking this entry out, I believe it’s posted to the incorrect
film file on ranchos.
Has anyone viewed this film?
SLC LDS has it listed under Santa Maria Mecatabasco, Villa Del Refugio,
Zacatecas, Mexico and not Villanueva.
I will order it and hopefully it will be the correct film so that I can
continue this Corvera Gonzalez line.
to be continued…
