The IGI for this Film number is noted as being Santa Maria Mecatabasco,
Villa Del Refugio, Zacatecas, Mexico and not Malpaso/Villanueva..

I would translate “Malpaso” as bad or difficult pass or trail. Mal=bad,
difficult and paso=pass or trail.

I don’t why I didn’t think that the reference to “Malpaso,” was a “place
name,” I kept thinking it had something to do with the condition of the
film. Gosh, do I have alot to learn about Mexico. Many thanks for your
