Thank you for this post Erik. Have you uploaded a gedcom of your family tree? I would really like to compare your Reynoso line with mine. My grandfather was a Reynoso.
If you are interested I have uploaded my gedcom to Nuestros Ranchos so you are able to search family there.

Erik Reynoso.

I was able to track my Reynozo line to Alexo Reynozo married to Ana Maria Martinez aka: Ana Maria Chumacero to the year 1819 when one of their sons got married in Moyahua Zacatecas. Alexo and Ana Maria had several kids: Jose Alexo, Dionicio , Maria T and Lazaro Reynozo but I have been unable to locate any of them. I have tried looking in Zacatecas and in Jalisco area but no luck. I have read that originally there were two Reynozos one went to Zacatecas and the other stayed in Jalisco but not sure where mine came from. If you have any information please help.

I tracked my Reynoso line to Miguel Reynoso married to Maria Potenciana Flores to the year 1815 when the oldest daughter, Rosalia married in Moyahua Zacatecas. According to the 1825 census, Miguel was born abt 1772 (age 53) and resided in “La Hacienda de Santa Rosa”. I too have had no luck in finding any other information. I’ve looked in the nearby parishes in both Zacatecas and Jalisco, but I have not found any additional information. I would appreciate any information anyone has..

I think one of your biggest problems will be the spelling of Reynosa since I’ve found it so many different ways
good luck in your search..

Bertha and José:

The main ancestor of the Reynoso line in Nueva Galicia is the Captain Francisco de Reynoso Rico, as stated above. He married Mariana de Padilla-Dávila and they had 6 children (5 male, 1 female: Francisco, Juan, Diego, Sancha, Joseph and Antonio). The eldest son -Francisco- had descendants mainly in Jalisco, Guanajuato and Michoacán; Joseph de Reynoso had a daughter called Angela who married the Alferez Real Cristóbal Lagunes de Soria.

Diego, the third son, was baptised on January 5th 1634 in Guadalajara, he married Margarita de Rentería y Valdés and had many descendants in the region of Zacatecas. You should be looking for the connection to Diego de Reynoso y Padilla-Dávila.

Best regards,

Hi Jose just wanted to share my info, I have Miguel Reynoso and Potensiana Flores in my father’s mother line. Maria Rosalia Reynoso married on 8 Feb 1815 in Moyahua, Zac. to Jose Felisiano Santillan Reinoso aka; Jph Feliz Santellan Reynoso (born on 8 Dec 1794 in Cuquio, Jalisco) hijo de Jose Francisco Santillan and Maria de la Cruz Reynoso. Jose Feliciano and Maria Rosalia were the parents of Secundino Santillan Reynoso married to Ricarda Garcia daughter of Ricardo Garcia and Maria Manuela Reynoso on 12 Jun 1844 in Moyahua, Zacatecas. Secundino and Ricardas daughter was Narcisa Santillan Reynoso Married to Manuel De Esparza around 1870 probably in Ixtlahuacan del Rio. Manuel de Esparza and Narcisa Santillan Reynoso were my 3G-Grandparents. Which line do you come from? Bertha Alicia Casanova

Mr. De Tejada, Thank you for the information you provided. Today I found the marriage certificate for Joseph Reynoso y Renteria hijo de Diego De Reynoso y Padilla and Doña Margarita de Renteria with Juana Sanchez Alvarez Tostado and according to the record all were “orginarios de Juchipila, Zac. en la Hacienda Buena Vista” Marriage date 26 Mar 1714 in San Felipe Cuquio, Jalisco. The only problem is that in Juchipila, Zac. there are no records till the year 1825 so would their records be in other towns?

Dear Bertha,

Congratulations of finding the marriage certificate of Joseph and Juana; Mariano González-Leal (Retoños de España en la Nueva Galicia, 2010) mentions the following children of Diego de Reynoso and Margarita de Rentería:

a) Diego, married to Juana Lozano.
b) Joseph, married to Juana Sánchez de Porras y Álvarez de Luna (Sánchez Álvarez-Tostado).
c) Juan Manuel, married to Josefa de Vargas-Machuca y Ramírez de Hermosillo.
d) Juan Antonio, married to Nicolasa Díaz de Santiago y de Ayllón.
e) María, married to the Captain Alejandro Sánchez de Porras y de Hermosillo.
f) Mariana, married to Jerónimo Sánchez de Porras y Álvarez de Luna.

Regarding the records of Juchipila: Since there are no ecclesiatical records previous to 1825 I suggest looking for the last will of Miguel Reynoso; this search must be made in situ because there are no digitalized records of them so far but perhaps someone in the region can help you.

I wish I could help you more, Bertha. I will let you know of any information regarding this family.

Best regards,
