I found the marriage record for this couple and it seems to have a lot of information. I can make out the parents of couple and their ages.

I found the marriage record for this couple and it seems to have a lot of information. I can make out the parents of couple and their ages. I’m having trouble making out the rest of it without getting confused. In the record there seems to an infante Eliza and the grandparents names or at least I think it is. I would appreciate help in gathering this information. Thank you.

Juanita

I have a record I can’t read at all. I’m thinking is for Maria Placida Valdes Hernandez but I’m having trouble reading the writing.

What you think says infante Eliza is actually “In facie ecclesiae” which is a Latin term for “in front of the church”. http://www.somosprimos.com/spanishterms/spanishterms.htm

The grandparents are not mentioned.

I hope this helps.

Hello Juanita,

As Armando stated there are no other names than the married couple and their parents. Again, the phrase you were wondering about just meant they were married in front of the church. What I have found to be helpful when I don’t quite understand the phrases or terminology of the record I’m researching, is to look at some of the other records before and after the one I’m interested in. Sometimes they’re a little clearer and you may either read them a bit easier or you will see that they are using the same phrases which just means it some what of a “form” with the same information, just the names change.

Hope that helps,
Barbara

Thank you Armando. I actually have these resources on my favorites bar, but sometime I’m totally brain dead and forgetful. I appreciate the link and will give it refresher. Thanks again.
