It sounds like he was the one who registered her as his daughter and gave him her last name. This often ocurrs when two people live together, though not marry still recognizes his natural child.

It sounds like he was the one who registered her as his daughter and gave him her last name. This often ocurrs when two people live together, though not marry still recognizes his natural child. Most times when this would not occur, it would list the mother and padre desconocido. I recently learned that another reason for marriages when mentioned was “de padres no conocidos” was because the person refused to identify their parents so they would not have to go through the dispensastion process, etc especially when consanguinity was obvious.
