same time period. I think it was Arturo who pointed out to me that the Herrera
surname was attached to the surname “Marin de Herrera”. Only later, can one
see the “marin” portion dropped or visa-versa. Anyway, this opened a whole
new door to research.

If I were to take a guess, I would suspect that “de la Torre y Romero” were
attached surnames much like “Marin de Herrera”. I would proceed down the path
of Antonio de la Torre y Romero (maybe the one writing was too lazy to write
the whole name?)
