Thank you Angie, In the 41 years that I’ve been a Corbera, I’ve seen it spelled a few different ways even as “Cobra.” Guess it’s just an easy name to mis-spell. I’m going to focus on Serrano and Salmanca, and put “Corbera,” on the “back burner,” for now. Pat

The surname is actually spelled ‘Correa.’ Sometimes I have seen the surname spelled with one ‘r’, ‘Corea’; or with an ‘s’, ‘Correas’; but I have never seen it spelled ‘Correra’ or ‘Corbera’. BUT…i guess it is possible…just not my experience…

Here is a link to a bio on Catholic-forum:

I too have Magallanes in my family and I will have to compare the names you gave, with names in my family tree program…I’ll have to get back to you…

I want to aplogize ahead of time for jumping in and not quite
understanding the context. . .aren’t you talking about two different
surnames? For example both names are listed in the:

Index to the Enciclopedia Heráldica Hispano-Americana of Alberto and
Arturo García Carraffa

found at this URL: http://www.loc.gov/rr/hispanic/geneal/index_gc.html

Here is the results for Corbera:
Corbera 27 157

Here are the results for Correa (well I didn’t find it by itself):
Correa Sotomayor 2 143

Maybe you all live close to one of the many libraries that own these
volumes you can have a look at the history of the names.

No problem Joseph, you can “jump in, ” any time… While surfing Ranchos I came across a posting that mentioned “El Santo Mateo Correra Magallanas.” I thought that maybe “Correra,” could have been a typo error for Corbera. is a combo surname that I had come across for a Tlaltenango de Sanchez Roman, Zac. family of Manuel Corvera y Jesus Magallanes, in the time frame that I was researching.

Thank you for sharing your family pictures. The 7 Dwarfs cartoon in Spanish was so funny, both Tino and I enjoyed a good laugh… thank you!

Thank you Angie, for all your help and added information. Spoke with one of my husband’s cousins today, and she has given me a good lead, to another cousin, that has connections in Momax to the Corbera family history from that area.
