In the Family Group Sheet for Lope Ruiz de Esparza and Francisca Gabay, Jaime Holcomb cites the following reference:

“Documentos proporcionados por el Licenciado Luis Lopez Martinez: Prueba de Nobleza y Limpieza de Sangre hecho por el esposo en Aguascalientes con su ascendencia en Espana varias generaciones, historia familiar y muy escueta genealogia de la esposa–dice que la madre de la esposa fue nieta del ultimo emperador Azteca, Moctezuma.”

Does anyone have a copy of this, or know where a copy may exist?

I do not have a copy because the library was closing and they were throwing me out. The document that I saw was a statement by Lope Ruiz de Esparza where he states this relationship. The person next to me actually showed it to me while I was working on something else and startled me. More like shocked me. I should have somehow made a copy but I had overstayed my stay in the library. I will try to contact him and get a copy.

Rick,
When you refer to “the library”, can you tell us which library contains the document of Lope Ruiz de Esparza that you briefly glanced? I am sure the descendants of Petronila de Moctezuma and her Gabai daughters would be very interested in adding that piece of information to our records.

Sincerely

The mormon library on Santa monica blvd in West Los angeles. It has been closed for the past year and a half for remodeling. I read the document the day before they Closed. They should be opening in the fall.
