Don Manuel de Villalpando and his wife Dona Maria Gregoria Guardado (d/o Eugenio Jose Guardadp and Maria Gertrudis Garcia) had at least 9 children from 1778 the late 1790s, of whom 8 are in the baptismal registers of Asientos, AGS. For one, Rafael, there is no baptism record, but his marriage record, and the baptism records of his children place him in this family.
I have not found a marriage record for Manuel and Gregoria.
Does anyone know who Manuel’s parents are?

George Fulton,
Reading your note just reminded me that there is a film for Asientos baptisms in the Pinos, Zacatecas records. The very first baptism film under Pinos covers 5 abril 1765 [image 3] to 29 agosto 1778 [image 156]. Perhaps you are already aware of this? The records belong to “la yglecia de el Real de San Nicolas de los Angeles aiuda de Parrochia de Nuestra Senyora de Bethlem de los Asientos”.

I didn’t know this. Thank you for sharing this information!
In dealing with the Asientos records it did seem that something was missing in the late 1700s. This explains it.

In going through the Asientos 1751/61 volume (which actually has 1757/1767), I found:
30 Mar 1761
Joseph Antonio de Villalpando, Espanol, from Asientos, h. l. Eusebio de Villalpando and Nicolasa Francisca Lopez, and widower of Juana de Dios Esparza, married Dona Juana Maria Francisca del Mercado, Espanola, from Zacatecas, h. l. Don Juan de Dios Mercado and Dona Barbara Castorena.
This is image 99.
There are a few other Villalpando marriages in this volume as well.

Thank you, George. I’ll take a look to this volume.

Juana de Dios Esparza’s parents: Nicolás Esparza and Gertrudis Bernal.

Thank you for this; I’ll post the details of the other Villalpando’s I found later today.
However, very briefly, in the 1751/61 volume they are on images 7-8, 32-33, 74, 81-2, 89, 92, 99, 118 (the mother of the groom is Anna de Villalpando), 159, 163, 192, and 199. The handwriting in this volume is very clear, and the names are all in the margins.
I am going to review the 1754/57 volume this evening.
