Hello everyone,

Has anyone looked up military records through the Family History catalog and ordered them to their local center? I’d like to look up military records for Zacatecas, for 1865-1885, as my grandfather thinks his grandfather served in Zacatecas. I’d also like to do this through my local family center…can anyone help?

Chris:

I am not aware of films that FHL has of Mexican miltary service. However, there do appear to be decent records… as to how easy they are to access and search that is another story:

Joseph,

What book are these pages from? What do the numbers in the column “Reference” refer to? Are they the film numbers for the LDS microfilms?

Under “Files” and “Books and Articles” you’ll find:
http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/15262

book by Lyman Platt for Mexico and other areas of South, Central, and
North America.

have a look at the other scans on the above link and it will decode what
the codes mean but the ones that have numbers are indeed LDS Microfilm
Numbers.
