Hi, my name is Rita. Thank you for allowing me to be a member of your

For about two years,I have been researching my Grandfather’s ancestors in
and around Colotlan.
I too have reached my g x grandfather, Plelipe Marquez de los Olibos married
to Francisca Xaviera Sanchez in early 1700.
Other g x grandfathers include, Diego de Santiago married to Bernarda de
Casas
and Bartholome de Cardenas married to Catharina Morillo, also in the early
1700s.
Included in my research are other g x grandparents, Juan Agustin Marquez
married to Juana de Abalos, in early 1700.
Other names in my research are Saldana, Gamboa, Solis, Ramos, Medina,
Vargas, Rivera, Tostado, Guizar,
Briseno, Dimaz, de Aro and Sandoval, just to name a few. Hello to all
my cousins out there.
Once again, thank you,
Lady Ramos

Hi Rita,
Welcome to the group. I am also searching in and around Colotlan.
I am not sure if you saw the emails from a couple of weeks ago but there was a discussion about Phelipe Marques de los Olivos and Francisca Xaviera Sanchez. They are also my ancestors and if you would like to compare information take a look at my files.
Also, I have done some research on Bartholome de Cardenas and Catharina Morillo. My ancestor Bartholome de Cardenas married to Barbara Gutierres lived during the same time period as your Bartholome. They both were listed as parents on marriage records in Colotlan during the same time period. So I thought they might be one in the same. With one of the women being first wife and the other second wife. I never was able to prove or disprove but I held onto the information just in case… Let me know if you are interested in what I have…
Another surname I am researching is Huizar/Huisar. I have also seen it spelled Guizar/Guisar. What are the names you are looking for?
Good luck on your search,
Angie Godina

Hi Angie,
Yes,I saw the article on Phelipe Marques de los Olibos.
Thanks for allowing me to compare information in your files.
In my records I have a Luis Joseph Marquez de los Olibos who married Juana Maria de Aro Sandoval(daughter of Thomas de Aro and Petrona de Sandoval)on May 22, 1754. The records show that Luis Joseph Marquez de los Olibos was the son of Joseph Antonio Marquez de los Olibos and Juana Francisca Gamboa.

Your records show a Pasqual Venacio Marques, son of Joseph Antonio Marquez and Juana Francisca Gamboa. I haven’t been able to find him. How did you find him?
I also think that Bartholome de Cardenas was married twice. In my searching I have found a Getrudis de Cardenas, daughter of Bartholo de Cardenas, no mother. Getrudis married Miguel Orosco on 08 Feb 1740 in Colotlan. Getrudis and Miguel were the godparents of baptism on 13 March 1757 in Totatiche, Jalisco for Maria Petra Ramos Cardenas, daughter of Juan Domingo Ramos Casas and Feliciana Victoria de Cardenas Morillo.
My Guizar/Huisar family started with Juan Joseph Romualdo Marquez, son of Juan Agustin Marquez and Juana de Abalos, married to Maria Monica Dimaz on 21 May 1750 in Colotlan. How he came up with the name Guizar is a mystery. The name of Guizar is given as the last name to some of his children.
Thanks for your help,
Rita
Hi Rita,
I found Pasqual Venacio Marques by accident… I was looking for all Marquez and Romero surnames in the film I was viewing. He came up since he is married to a Romero. His name didn’t come up when I was searching for Marquez since the name was inputed in as Pasqual Venancio MARQZ. Pasqual’s spouse is Margarita ROMERO. They were married on 2 MAY 1773 in San Luis, Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico. [BATCH NUMBER: M604652; DATES: 1752-1790; SOURCE CALL NO.: 0443782] I descend from Feliciano Acencio MARQUES and his wife Albina Victoria ROMERO. They were married on 7 APR 1766 in San Luis, Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico. [Same Batch Number]
Here is my Bartholome DE CARDENAS information. He was married to Barbara GUTIERRES. They had the following children:
1. Catharina DE CARDENAS who was married to Juan Mathias DE GAETA on 19 Jan 1722 in San Luis, Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico.
2. Maria Antonia DE CARDENAS who was married to Nicolas GODINA, son of Nicolas GODINA and Maria Ana DE LAMAS, on 29 Jan 1732 in San Luis, Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico.
3. Francisco DE CARDENAS who married to Juliana MUNOS LOPEZ, daughter of Joseph MUNOS and Melchora de los Reies LOPEZ BRAVO, on 24 May 1734 in Tlaltenango De Sanchez Roman, Zacatecas, Mexico.
4. Maria Rosa DE CARDENAS who was married to Miguel FERNANDEZ, son of Nicolas FERNANDEZ and Josepha TOSTADO, on 6 Oct 1735 in San Luis, Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico.
5. Juan Mathias DE CARDENAS who was married to Luiza Theresa MARQUES DE LOS OLIBOS, daughter of Francisco MARQUES DE LOS OLIBOS and Theresa RAMIREZ DE LA ROSA, on 12 Jun 1740 in San Luis, Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico.
6. Christobal de los Santos DE CARDENAS who was married to Antonia Petronila MARQUES RAMIREZ, daughter of Francisco MARQUES DE LOS OLIBOS and Theresa RAMIREZ DE LA ROSA, on 12 Jun 1740 in San Luis, Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico.
I descend from Juan Mathias CARDENAS and Catharina CARDENAS. I need to check the marriage docs and see whether or not it mentions if Bartholome DE CARDENAS or Barbara GUTIERRES were alive at the time of children cermonies.
I have temporarily misplaced the information I saved on the ‘other’ Bartholome married to Catarina Morillo. So I’ll get back to you on that.
Thanks,
Angie

1. Diego DE CARDENAS who married Maria Magdalena DE LA O, daughter of Onofre
DE LA O and Josepha PERES, on 01 Mar 1729 in San Luis, Colotlan, Jalisco,
Mexico.

Diego DE SANTIAGO and Bernarda DE CASAS, on 15 Feb 1733 in San Luis,

(Source: Film # 0443671; Dates: 1718-1743; Batch: M604651 )
I descend from Feliciana DE CARDENAS and Juan Domingo RAMOS.
Note about Feliciano Acencio MARQUEZ and Albina Victoria ROMERO:
They were the godparents of Dominga Josepha Guisar, daughter of Juan Joseph
Romualdo GUISAR and Monica DIMAS, baptized on 15 Jul 1773 in San Luis,
Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico. I descend from Juan and Monica’s son, Apolonio.
Thanks again,
Rita
Hello everyone, I came across Daniel Mendez Del Camino, thanks to Nuestros Ranchos. He gave me lot’s of insights of my ancestors. We are related by Caminos’ on my father’s and mother’s maternal side (they connect with Manuel (del) Camino, son of Mariano I del Camino 1853-1945 sources: Daniel del Camino and es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juan_del_Camino). Out of Nuestros Ranchos I know more about our Camino’s side of the family thanks to Daniel.
I would like to know where I can search more information on my great grandfather Romulo Renteria Garcia’s 1896-1984(my father’s Paternal side) ancestors.
Thanks in advance,
Vrenteria
