Hello research,

Does originario always mean birthplace?
I have run across a record that seems to say a child was “originario
de” one place and “nacido en” another place.

Maria y Maria Thereza

Does this suggest that the child’s family lived in San Pablo
Teocaltiche but he was actually born and christened in Santiago?

Best regards,

David Serna I have taken it to be the the ” area of origin ” perhaps not defining the exact rancho, or defining where the birth records are located. I would expect to find the birth record in the ” Originario ” location.
I could see this being misleading if a person were nacido in Zacatecas, lived for 2 yrs ; at a young age moved to Aguascalientes for 15 years; then moved to Teocaltiche,Jalisco where he ended up marrying.
I would expect the marriage document to say Originario de Aguascalientes.
