Yes, I was reviewing burial records, so you are right that it must mean infant. I’ve seen the word spelled a couple of different ways.

Yes, I was reviewing burial records, so you are right that it must mean infant. I’ve seen the word spelled a couple of different ways. The “z” might be an “r” and it might say “Paruula.” I’m sure the spelling varies depending on the region and the priest’s origin. Gracias – it seems there is nothing you people at Ranchos can’t figure out!

The word is párvulo(a).

The only correct way to spell it is parvula/parvulo. The Real Academia
Española is the authority on the Spanish language.
http://lema.rae.es/drae/?val=parbulo. The only alternate but incorrect
spelling is parbulo/parbula.
