in the dictionary: http://biblio2.colmex.mx/bibdig/dicc_cubas/base3.htm
under “CH” and then under “Chavez” it has this but I don’t know if it is
the exact Rancho you are looking for:

“Rancho de la Municipalidad de Monte Escobedo, partido de Jerez, Estado
de Zacatecas”

it also has one listed for Jalisco that is close to Sayula

Thanks, Joseph,

The one in the municipalidad de Monte Escobedo must be the one. I have ancestors Pablo Soriano and Mariana Escovedo from Salitrillo whose daughter Maria Rita married a Romualdo Duran who was from that Rancho de Los Chaves. I had wondered if it was near Tepetongo or Jerez.
