One of my Durango lines is apparently from Ciudad Zacatecas: Miguel de Talavera, origen of Zacatecas City, son of Miguel de Talavera and Maria Angon, married Nicolasa Rita del Prado, daughter of Miguel Prado and Maria Josepha Paes in San Juan del Rio, Durango, on 3 Oct. 1749. I’ve looked online and so far cannot locate any Talaveras in that period in Zacatecas. Can anyone assist?

Zacatecas always seem to be sticky research in my case. Records are good up to 1642 or so. For
the city of Zacatecas. From then until the early 1800s they were burned by a priest during the
Cristero war, it’s so painful to know we could have learned so much from these records but
unfortunately they are gone. I don’t even want to think if any pre 1600s records were also burned.
I know if they existed my research would benefit greatly. Needless to say they could have gone to
nearby places if your luck say maybe Fresnillo or Jerez to baptize, check nearby places. Many nothern
families were in the mining industry causing this great travel from Zacatecas to Durango for example.
This Prado line could take you to Aguascalientes these Guzman del Prado (de Guzman y Prado), couple
lines left for the city of Zacatecas.

Thank you for your info and advice. I did not know about the impact of the
Cristero War on the church records in Zacatecas. I’ll look closely through
the batch records for Fresnillo and Jerez, just in case. Unfortunately, my
Prado line stops in Durango with a “padres no conocidos”. I’ve yet to stop
on my Paes Guzman line, which may eventually take me to Zacatecas. Thanks
