Does anyone know if there are “town historians” in Mexico and how to contact them?

Does anyone know if there are “town historians” in Mexico and how to contact them? It looks like my father’s Becerra line moved about between Atotonilco el Alto, Purisima del Ricon, and San Juan de los Lagos. The fact that they traveled between the three cities during the late 1800s, is surprising. I’d love to be able to find out more than the standard historic overview of the area and it’s people.
