Hello Everyone,

I am trying to do some research on my grandfather Trinidad Martinez, but have not been able o find his place of birth.  I am using “familysearch.org/mexico-genealogy”  He was born in and around 1895 either in San Miguel el Alto, Jalisco or Aguascalientes.  if anyone can help I will appreciate it.

Regards,

John Martinez

Hi John

I found some useful clues and info on the records of border crossing which I accessed through Ancestry.com. I think you can try it out through a trial version.
I saw who came across with whom, what town they came from in Mexico, and who they were going to stay with in the US,ages of the children and where they were born…This was for 1908 or 9. I had tried it on a lark, had always assumed they were undocumented, but I got lucky. Knowing specifically which town they came from has of course enabled me to narrow my searches.

Regards
Denise

John,

Sometimes it is difficult to find individuals from that recent period just
using the online familysearch.org search engine so you’ll probably have to
resort to turning pages one by one first in San Miguel el Alto and then
expand your research to the area of AGS that you speculate he might have
been born:

https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1&region=MEXICO

scroll down to Jalisco

rch.org/searchapi/search/collection/1874591

and to San Miguel el Alto:

ch.org%2Frecords%2Fwaypoint%2F12503115%3Fcc%3D187459

or for Civil Records:

rch.org/searchapi/search/collection/1918187

https://www.familysearch.org/search/image/index#uri=https%3A%2F%2Ffamilysear
ch.org%2Frecords%2Fwaypoint%2FMMBB-NHJ%3An604286422%3Fcc%3D1918187

now for Aguascalientes since you don’t know the location your search will be
infinitely harder. Here is the link to the AGS records:
