After 9 years of working on records, I came across “coiota” for the first time today. Thanks to a Portuguese-language web site’s footnote I now know that it means media-mestiza/media-india.
After 9 years of working on records, I came across “coiota” for the first time today. Thanks to a Portuguese-language web site’s footnote I now know that it means media-mestiza/media-india.
But I was surprised that it was so difficult to find the meaning online — and that I could not find a complete list of all the different caste terms used in Mexico over the centuries.
Does anyone know if there is such a list online?
