An intiguing new take on the theory which postulates that Alberto del Canto (founder of Saltillo, d. ca. 1611) and the Canto family form the Portuguese Azores Islands descend from John of Kent. According to this blogpost, this family could instead descend from Sir John Chandos, Viscount of Saint-Sauveur in the Cotentin, Constable of Aquitaine, Seneschal of Poitou, KG (died 31 December 1369):

Still just a theory yet to be proven with documents, but I’ll have to say it is a very interesting one.

Daniel,
You make a reference to Marcos Hernandez Montalvo. Was he born in Monclova Coahuila circa 1650? I see a Marcos Hernandez as a witness to many marriages in late 1690 in Monclova. However, his name is only entered as Marcos Hernandez. Many of these marriages involved military personnel!!
Thank you,
Jaime Rendon Hernandez
