I don’t see a problem with doing what you are suggesting. Unfortunately I don’t have the time I’d like to have to participate more in the matters/discussions of our group, but I do go into the web site often to view subjects, files, etc.

With most of the groups (not necessarily genealogical) that I participate in, you MUST log-in to the website in order to access mail, postings, chat, etc. So, frankly, I was surprized to see this site the way it is.

I think it is a good idea for people to check the files, gedcoms, etc on the website; why not take advantage of all the information to be found there? Maybe you could also from time to time remind people of what is on the website besides the e-mails. Could you post an index or something like that once in a while? Another group I belong to sends out a “we haven’t heard from you in a while” type message.

I think it is a good idea for people to check the files, gedcoms, etc on the website; why not take advantage of all the information to be found there? Maybe you could also from time to time remind people of what is on the website besides the e-mails. Could you post an index or something like that once in a while? Another group I belong to sends out a “we haven’t heard from you in a while” type message.

Wonderful idea, but you should see me, I’ve got no time for extra
duties. I’m wondering how I’m going to get past the “Big Cut” of 31 Jan
2007. I’ve been comtemplating how it is going to be possible for me
maintain my current level of involvement in the group as we continue to
get larger and larger. One thing I wasn’t counting on when Arturo
suggested building the site was that all the people from Jalisco,
Zacatecas, and Aguascalientes were going to surface and want to be
members. Its simply amazing. Where as there used to be new members join
the Yahoo group a few every month now there is at least double that
maybe even triple.
So even though your idea is wonderful it will have to be one of those
ideas that will only come to fruition if someone else steps up and takes
on a volunteer opportunity.
