Anybody in the group a Sánchez de Aldana? I saw this message and got
interested in this Colonial Genealogist publication. Has anyone read a
copy of it? Well its a long shot but thought I’d throw it out there for
consideration.

As always if you just happen to be a Sánchez de Aldana and one of your
lines just happens to be in the below listed publication make sure to
verify the information for yourself.

Don’t take anything for granted.

Your ancestor Jose Maria Urrutia, brother of the Manuel Urrutia you mentioned, was born 4 January 1816 in Chihuahua City, and was baptized 6 January 1816 as "Jose Mariano de Jesus Telesforo de los Reyes Urrutia [the IGI says "Orrutia" based on the handwriting] hijo legitimo de Jose Antonio Urrutia y de Doña Mariana Sánchez de Aldana, Españoles (LDS Film # 162665). The Sánchez de Aldana family is an old family from Michoacán and Jalisco, whose descent from Leonel de Cervantes, Conquistador, is given in "The Colonial Genealogist" Vol. III, No. 2 (New Series), October 1970, at pp. 73-79.

I have records for the Sanchez de Aldana’s in Chilchota Michoacan and Zapotlan El Grande and  Tamazula  Jalisco. They are not direct ancestors but married lines related by marriage to mine (Gutierrez de Raya and Vejar and Villasenor).  I have been trying to connect the Michoacan Sanchez de Aldana with the Jalisco Sanchez de Aldana.  I have been trying to find information on the Sanchez de la Mejorada line also, the records say they came from Tuxpan Jalisco in abt 1680 and lived in Atoyac, Zapotlan El Grande and Tamazula also.  It’s so hard to find double surnames on the IGI, any suggestions?

Estimado Daniel,
He remotado bastante lineas a dicho caballero.

Saludos,
Daniel
